Add a unit

Create a single unit in a property and understand which fields drive billing later.

Add a unit

A unit is an apartment or home inside a property. Use this when you are adding one or two units; to load a whole building, use Bulk upload units instead.

Before you start

The property must already exist. Have the unit's basic data at hand: number, floor, size and its monthly maintenance fee.

Steps

  1. Open Units and select Add Unit.
  2. In Create New Unit, select the property and fill in the required fields:
    • Unit Number, for example 101.
    • Status: Vacant, Occupied or Unavailable.
    • Type: Studio, 1 Bedroom, 2 Bedrooms, 3 Bedrooms or 4+ Bedrooms.
    • Floor and Area / Sq Ft, both whole numbers.
    • Maintenance Fee: the unit's monthly fee, zero or greater.
  3. Optional fields: Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Monthly Rent, Late fee amount / percent, Notes, and a tenant if the unit is occupied.
  4. Select Create Unit. You should see Unit created successfully and the unit in the list.

The maintenance fee matters

The maintenance fee you enter here is what ALPRO can bill for this unit each month, depending on how the property's monthly charges are configured. If you set it to 0, ALPRO asks you to confirm: a unit with a $0 fee generates no maintenance charge. See How monthly charges are generated.

Example

Ocean Tower A receives its last pending unit: 1204, a 2 bedroom on floor 12, 1,150 sq ft, $850 maintenance fee. Laura creates it as Vacant; when Sofía buys it, Laura registers her as the owner and the unit starts billing to her account.

FAQ

Can I create an Occupied unit without a tenant? Yes, at creation the tenant is optional. When you later edit an occupied unit, ALPRO requires it to have an active tenant; assign one or change the status.

Can I change a unit's status later? Yes, from the unit list, with Change status. When an occupied unit becomes vacant or unavailable, ALPRO offers to end the current tenant's active lease in the same step.

What does Unavailable mean? The unit is set aside, for example during a renovation. It has no tenant, it does not require one, and it stays visible in the list.
